A Trip To Jamie’s Italian

Can you believe it’s been almost five months since Spiceal Street opened and over a year since celeb chef, Jamie Oliver, opened his restaurant Jamie’s Italian at Bullring? It’s no secret that we’re a big fan of food here at Browse: Bullring so it’s fair to say that I have visited the new restaurants a number of times! I recently visited Jamie’s Italian for an evening meal. The position of our table was amazing, close enough to the window to see the idyllic backdrop of the new architecture (the Spiceal Street restaurants and Selfridges building) set aside the old (St Martin’s Church).

It was a busy, lively evening service with a divine range of specials on offer as well as the current menu. Whilst browsing the menu we opted for the bread selection, which offers a range of different Italian-inspired breads, including ciabatta, rosemary focaccia and Artisan sourdough, served with extra-virgin olive oil & the finest aged balsamic.

Mains chosen (I opted for the ‘Happy Heritage Grilled Chicken’ and ‘Funky Chips’), we relaxed in the rustic Italian setting, which offers a great dining experience. The waiter was friendly, efficient and continually checked that we were happy and had enough drinks.

Despite the restaurant being busy we didn’t have to wait too long for our food. When mine arrived it was beautifully presented and offered an extremely generous portion. The chicken was very tender and cooked to perfection whilst the warm tomato, olive, chilli and caper sauce had the perfect kick.

The ‘Funky Chips’ were also delicious and were a big hit with the person I dined with too!

I never normally opt for a dessert but the ‘The Ultimate Brownie’ as recommended by our waiter sounded too good to miss and when it arrived at our table I was glad we’d decided to order it. The chocolate raspberry and amaretto brownie was served with vanilla ice cream and was mouth-wateringly good!
